Sylvie began her hairdressing career after an initial spell studying Classical Animation at Algonquin College. Upon realizing this wasn’t her dream vocation, Sylvie began an apprenticeship in 2002 where her love of hairdressing flourished and her ambition to excel in the field grew.

Joining the leading salon in Ottawa in 2004, The Loft Urban Salon, Sylvie worked under Master Stylist, Bruno Racine and developed her own style in hair that always lent a trend-setting and expressive design. After 3 years honing her skills in precision cutting and avant-garde updo’s in Toronto, Sylvie returned to The Loft Family by becoming Co-Owner and face of the Loft Toronto on trendy Queen Street West (2013). During that time, Sylvie elevated her training and focus at The Sassoon Academy in London, UK with ABC’s, Salon Creative and multiple Advance Academy courses. She worked as key stylist for the pristine Toronto Fashion week, as well as adorn the tresses of artists in the Portrait Studio for TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival).

Since the opening of The Loft - Queen, Sylvie has found a deep passion and drive for coaching and teaching the next generation of talent, building a team of stylists that have the same culture of creating inspirational space through their work and ideas. She also opened The Loft - Dundas in April 2017 and continues to commit to finding innovative ways to push the boundaries in self expression.

What Inspires you:

Finding a connection with others and a common purpose. Positivity in infectious and when a group of people come together and share ideas and dreams, it is pure magic that can lead to the most beautiful creations.

Who do you admire:

My sister and my mom. They are both strong women that surrounded me my whole life. They thought me to be kind and patient but never put up with any shit.

Top Tip:

Know when to rest, that’s when all the good ideas come through.

Becky Copeland
Operations Manager

After finishing her undergraduate in International Development and certification in Autism Behaviour Therapy, Becky joined the Loft Toronto team. She began as a receptionist and has grown into General Manager for the Queen West location. She is full of energy and enthusiasm, consistently looking to learn more about the hair industry, customer service being paramount. While she is dedicated to The Loft Toronto and it's stylists, her true passion is working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Becky has been working towards the Day Dreamers Club, a company combining fostering friendships between students with Autism and travel opportunities . She works everyday to ensure that the salon is an inclusive environment, full of friendly smiles and always organized to keep everyone's busy schedule in check. Becky's goal is to create an experience that is a home away from home the minute a client walks into salon until their next visit.

What Inspires you:
This amazing team. Working with people that truly love their job and want to make magic happen everyday. Although when I really need a breath I head outdoors and reconnect with myself to get the creativity flowing.

Who do you admire:
Anyone willing to take a chance and face their fears. The more you’re out of your comfort zone the more you learn. As well as the Dalai Lama because of his ability to fight diversity and find the beauty in everyone.

Top Tip:
Dry shampoo. Being on the go all the time and trying to juggle a million things has taught me this is my ultimate too and life saver.

Heather Mercer
Senior Stylist

Heather is a senior stylist with The Loft Toronto, working at both our Queen St W and Dundas St W locations.

A prairie girl at heart, Heather began her career in her home town in 2001 apprenticing at a leading Winnipeg salon.

Heather knew at a young age she wanted to pursue a career in hairstyling. Her passion for both women's and men's hairstyling is rooted in her own family tree. Her mother was a hairstylist and her great grandfather was a barber.

Upon arriving in Toronto, Heather quickly got involved in styling hair for television. She regularly assists in makeovers and fashion segments for The Marilyn Denis show and occasionally styles the hosts of The Social and Your Morning.

Heather believes in continuing education. She has been trained in color with L'oreal, Goldwell and Redken. She’s attended many cutting and styling classes by Kevin Murphy. She’s also been Vidal Sassoon trained at the Toronto academy and studied at the Bumble and Bumble university in New York city.

Heather is inspired by making people feel good. There is no better feeling to her than making someone feel beautiful or handsome. Heather believes strongly in self-care, service, client experience and building strong and lasting client relationships.

Heather excels at precision cutting, long hair, bridal styling and men's barbering. Her favorite haircut will forever be the classic bob. Her go to products are anything Kevin Murphy. ♡

Heather's best hair advice is to let your hair live where it wants to live. Working with your hair's natural movement and texture not only looks beautiful but will make it easier for you to style.

The people who Heather admires most are her mom and dad. Her mom for her warmth, thoughtfulness, loving nature and ability and desire to take care of those around her. Her dad for his entrepreneurial skills, self made success and his unbelievable work ethic. She draws inspiration from them both and strives to apply they’re combined strengths into everyday.

When Heather isn’t doing hair you can find her spending time with family and friends or curled up with a cup of tea, reading a book or watching Gilmore Girls.

Kirsten Klonst
Senior Stylist

Kirsten Klontz's passion for session hairstyling sparked early in her career while assisting backstage at New York Fashion Week. Klontz continued to expand her network, traveling internationally for the show circuit and surrounding herself with leading artists in markets such as London and Dubai. Now based in Toronto, she sees hair as a malleable texture, creating both refined and abstract shapes that are honest and uncomplicated. beyond on set work Klontz has been a guest practitioner at the London College of Fashion, hosting international session styling work shops and narrating virtual educational video content for european agencies.

Klontz has keyed shows Yorkdale mall and Re/set in Toronto. editorially, her work has been published in Glow, Dress to Kill, Elle Canada, Factice, The Kit, Vogue India, Conde Nas Traveller, Grazia, Harper's Bazaar, Esquire, A&E, Rolling Stones, l'Officiel and Models.com.

Her clients include The Face Shop, Shoppers Drug Mart, Stellar Beauty, Beaufille, Aritzia, Urbanovitch, l'Oreal, Dove, Tresemme, Nexxus, Bumble & Bumble, Ted Baker, H&M, as well as advertorial projects for Pandora, Swarovski, Gucci, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Van Cleef & Arpels. Emily Anne
Salon Stylist

Originating from The Loft Ottawa, Emily Anne has not taken long to make her mark in the hair and fashion industry in Toronto.

Emily Anne specializes in bespoke blondes; balayage, highlights and custom toning.

Emily Anne's style influences stem from soft movement, texture and tones of natural hair. Making others feel beautiful and creating art is what keeps her motivated every day.

When you can't find Emily Anne at The Loft Toronto, she is continuing to discover her passion and love for styling at various fashion weeks and editorial sets.

Katrina Kuras
Salon Stylist

Katrina has been a hairstylist for 6 years but has been immersed in the industry since her early teens. She worked and apprenticed in salons across North America, including Washington D.C., Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. She graduated hair school from The Loft Academy in Ottawa.
Katrina is passionate about continuing education and staying updated on current trends. She has training in Wella, L’oreal and Ellumen color, has taken many styling courses with Sebastien Professional and Kevin Murphy, and has been Sassoon trained at the Toronto Sassoon’s academy. Katrina also competes in national hair competitions. In 2014 she place top 6 nationally at Wella Trendvision in the student/new talent category. In 2016 she placed top 10 nationally in The Contessa awards and placed regionally in the Loreal Colour Trophy both in the new talent category.

When it comes to hair Katrina is very well rounded. She specializes in creating custom unique looks that cater to her client’s vision and expectations. She will go above and beyond to make sure her clients feel beautiful (or handsome) and confident!

Domenic Gialleonardo
Salon Stylist | Colour Correction Specialist

Domenic is originally from Calgary, but moved to Toronto to pursue his love for hair. He trained at The Aveda Institute in Toronto where he developed his technical and creative skills. As a stylist, he has had the opportunity to work in salon and on set. He has assisted numerous artists on photo shoots, marketing campaigns, commercials, fashion shows and more. He is always looking for ways to grow as a stylist and his latest accomplishment is becoming a L’Oreal Artistic Educator. As a stylist, he loves creating sun-kissed balayages, adding length with extensions and perfecting his signature blonde. Domenic is looking forward to joining The Loft family and helping you achieve the perfect cut and colour.

"After attending Trillium College in 2012 for hairstyling and beauty, Lindzie immediately started her journey in the industry behind the chair in salons. During this time, Lindzie had the opportunity to develop her own unique style as a artist with her daring clients. Lindzie has also assisted on multiple photo shoots, which led to the honour of having her own work featured and published in American Salon Magazine.
She has worked with Goldwell and their Social Media Influencers Team on their social platform and continues to inspire to social media viewers with her creative work.
Lindzie strives for creating new colour palettes, including bright and pastel fashion colours, blended balayage and natural babylights. "

My best friend, Jordyn. She challenges me in the best ways to be the best version of myself. She’s crazy talented and I adore her!
As well as my family! They’re crazy awesome, supportive and life would be boring with out them.

Who do you admire:
I admire my mom. She is a crazy wizard lady that manages everything and anything that comes at her, I have no clue how she does it. She is skilled in anything she tries to achieve and if I could be half the lady she is, I could die happy.

Lexie moved to Toronto in 2013 from her hometown of Port Elgin to begin her education in Business Administration at Humber College. After graduating Lexie took advantage of this time in her life and decided to explore after her studies. Lexie moved to Melbourne, Australia for two years. Over these two years she traveled all over Australia, New Zealand, Bali, Nepal, and a number of other countries in Asia gaining new life lessons along the way. Upon moving back to Canada Lexie returned to Toronto and began as the new Loft receptionist.

Lexie is passionate about learning new skills and gaining new experiences. While she might be new to the hair industry Lexie has always been interested in all things beauty and is eager to learn more as a part of the Loftie team.

Torry
Receptionist

About:

She is an amateur comic and makeup enthusiast. After graduating Humber College for Comedy Writing and Performance, Torry decided to stick to her strengths of improvisation and acting. She had a YouTube channel for makeup, and has been on a few commercials as well. She is a very charismatic individual who loves to be around people and make sure everyone is having a great day, one smile or laugh at a time. She has always had a love for the perfect pixie cut, and after months of research, found the Loft. She has been getting her hair cut at the Loft since 2017, and ever since then it has been her #1 hair place. So when the opportunity arose She jumped at the offer to be a new member of the Loftie Team!
